Destination Wedding

Destination weddings can be great, when they are done correctly. If not, they can be extremely stressful for all parties involved!

Lisa and John, fortunately, planned a great one! They were married 06/07/08 on Bald Head Island NC. The smartest thing they did was to keep the wedding small and intimate. They rented a large house right on the beach where Lisa and her entire family stayed during the wedding celebration. John's family stayed in a different house across the island.

Playing off their surroundings, Lisa and John's colors were a bright ocean blue and a warm sandy beige. The wedding took place on the beach right outside of the beach house the bride's family stayed in followed by a short cocktail reception on the house's large deck. After that the families loaded into their golf carts (there are no cars on the island) and went off to the country club for dinner.

This wedding was so wonderful because it was a great opportunity for both families to spend a long weekend together and really get to know each other. Lisa and John never stopped smiling the entire weekend and as everyone was boarding the ferry to go back the mainland they couldn't stop commenting on how wonderful the entire weekend was.

Spring Weddings-a look back

What a beautiful weekend we just had! All of this warm weather is getting me excited for wedding season. Although the summer months still hold the top spot for weddings, there is something so special about a spring wedding. Unfortunatly, we live in Ohio where if you do decide to plan a spring wedding you need to be prepared for snow as well as sweltering hot weather.

Chad and Iman had the idea when they decided to plan a spring wedding in Charlotte, NC. Making the drive to Charlotte in April 2007 was great because the further south I got, the greener everything became. I have to admit that I was quite sad when I returned to dull, brown Ohio the following Monday.

We were worried the night before because it rained buckets all over the city Friday night but we woke Saturday morning to some of the most beautiful, clear blue skys. Chad and Iman were blessed with perfect 72 degree weather for their "city" themed wedding.
Big thanks to Kevin Milz of Kevin Milz Photography for the beautiful pictures.

A Dress To Remember

A few weeks ago, the Associaiton of Bridal Consultants hosted the event A Dress To Rememeber- a Benefit for Dresses that Heal inc. This event featured a bridal dress auction and silent auction to raise money for the Breast Cancer Recovery Foundation. Another attraction of this event was the Table Design Competition. Area florists, planners and designers were invited to design an "urban chic" but "eco friendly" tablescape to be featured in the performance of the Lois and Richard Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art.

I would like to say a huge thanks to all of the designers who participated in this competition and also to Brenda Pottinger of Pottinger Photography for taking such great pictures. The winners are below.

Winner: Bride's Choice

Glendale Florist
Winner: Most Eco-Friendly Design

Fassler Florist
